Author: Sindhoor Pangal

Sindhoor is a canine behaviour consultant, canine myotherapist, an independent ethological researcher and educator in Bangalore, India. She is a TEDx speaker, the author of the book Dog Knows and is the founder of BHARCS, a premium academy that offers a UK-accredited level 4 diploma on canine behaviour and ethology.  She is currently pursuing her masters in Anthrozoology at Exeter University. While she wears several hats, Sindhoor’s favourite role has been being a mommy to two amazing dogs—Nishi and Cheeru who are no more but whom she considers her inspirations and her greatest teachers.

Chaita and her avatars

At first, she was called the "site dog", who then became Sita or Syta and then the S softened to a Ch, just as our hearts softened for her. Thus she became Chaita and this is her story.

First, there was Elvis. He was Cheeru’s first friend in this place and I suspect he is still her favourite. Or perhaps Dude is her favourite. Do dogs have “favourites”?

Is your dog friendly with other dogs

A big mistake many of us make when we get dogs is that we have a preconceived notion of what a dog or a breed should be. “Dog friendly” Vs. “dog reactive” are overly simplistic boxes that we try to shoehorn our dogs into and my Cheeru refuses to fit.

Welcome your dog’s love with open arms

We are told that we should ignore our dogs when we come through the door. But when we walk in through that door, their world lights up and they express it. How do they feel when their expression of such profound love is totally ignored by us?
